September 13, 2023
Port Vila, Vanuatu
The Pacific Community (SPC) and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) selected Pacific Development to assist with implementation of Vanuatu’s first national medical disability registry.

Providing disability services is new to Vanuatu’s health sector. To meet commitments under the Health Sector Strategy 2021-2030 and the Vanuatu 2030: People’s Plan, the medical disability registry will digitize the process of diagnosing, documenting, and certifying the clinical diagnosis of patients prior to being registered as a beneficiary of government services under the planned National People with Disability System which will be implemented in the future.

Pacific Development consultant Kali Ameara will lead the assignment.  A well-known personality in the country who helped coordinate repatriation flights and quarantine facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, he will facilitate the broad stakeholder consultations to crystalize the health sector vision and define the requirements of the national medical disability registry. Working on behalf of the health ministry and provincial health authorities, Kali willwork with the software development firm, lead the acceptance testing, and deliver the training to raise the level of adoption of the medical disability registry.
